You may not realise it, but you are now reading the first magazine dedicated exclusively to Männers (see front cover for an unmistakable example). Männer is French for Cosmopolitan, which is Russian for Sputnik. However you don’t have to be a space cadet to enjoy our magazine. It’s just that if you ARE a Männer or a bungee jumper, you are sure to have a lot more fun with Tokyo YY (pronounced with rising intonation).

If you are NOT a Männer or a medical student, don’t despair. You can still vicariously enjoy the spirit of Männerhood in the privacy of your own home by having some well-Männered friends over, or you might like to pay a visit to this month’s cover guy, Ken at Club Dragon (see box on inside cover).

Before signing off, there is one other small matter I wish to clarify: Yes, Tokyo YY is for Männers in Japan as well as ABROAD. Don’t get me wrong. I am NOT promoting Art Hoffman’s new picture book “Being A Hulk!” In fact, I think the pictures in his magazine are quite tasteless. Perhaps he should get a REAL photographer.
