Message From the Editor

Welcome to our mainstream, middle-of-the-road magazine promoting good housekeeping, solid post-graduate education and healthy outdoor sports. April is Hanami Month, where people engage in popular team activities such as sitting in groups under cherry trees, delighting in the beauty of nature, and trying to get other people drunk by constantly topping up their glasses.

As usual this month provides many opportunities to enjoy art shows, concerts, movies and all sorts of events you'd expect from an international city. We have squeezed some of the most exciting events into our listings spread, but of course, these are a little subjective, being the choice of our events editors. For more comprehensive listings we recommend turning to the Cityscope pages in the Tokyo Journal, Japan's oldest (since 1981) and most-widely read English-language city magazine — a mere ¥600 at fine bookstores worldwide — a sure way to keep your glass topped up with the best tips and insights on the sakura city.
